Dolphin Report - East of Jacksonville

The dolphin are definitely here but they seemed to be scattered and not too hungry this past weekend. There were a lot of boats at the ledge but it seems most boats had 3-4 fish to show for a lot of long days of trolling. The bite seemed to be better off of St Augustine with a few boats doing well on Wahoo and Dolphin. A few blackfin tuna were also caught by the fleet.

As the full moon dims the fishing should improve over the next few days.

Snapper biting well

We have been able to limit on snapper a couple weeks in a row now from 8-20 miles offshore. We have had good bites in the AH, RL and MR areas.

St Augustine spring dolphin run - not much yet!

Well the Mahi haven't shown up in numbers yet at all. But there is a little hope on the horizon. The Savannah Summer caught a 58 pound bull dolphin off of St Augustine 2 weeks ago.

Bottom Fishing off of Jacksonville

The bottom fishing continues to be great off of Jacksonville from 8 to 20 miles offshore. We were able to catch our limit of Red Snapper and one nice Gag Grouper in the RL and MR reef areas off of Mayport on Sunday 4/5/08. None of the fish were very big but they all taste great!

The water was dirty and the bite wasn't instantaneous. We had to work for the fish we caught and most spots we stopped on only have up 1 keeper snapper.

All of the fish were caught on natural ledges except for the grouper which came off of a wreck.
