Elton Bottom Fishing Report
We headed out to Elton Bottom on Sunday 8/10/08. We jigged up plenty of bait about 6 miles east of mayport - cigar minnows were plentiful and some live squid. The seas were flat for the ride out.
We hit the east ledge at Elton Bottom. The vermillion snapper were hot and running big. We caught a limit pretty easily from 1-3 pounds. We also caught 5 nice red snapper at this spot. The amberjacks were painfully big and hungry. We had quite a few fish that were pushing over 40 pounds.
We moved to another spot and picked up another 2 red snapper before heading inshore to TW. TW was pretty dead for us but we didn't try very hard. It was getting late and I didn't even try to anchor.
We also had some cobia and mahi at the boat at Elton Bottom. Only 1 of the mahi were hungry.
